Peninsula Adventure Sports Association (PASA), in partnership with Subaru Canada Inc & Owen Sound Subaru, is excited to announce a new title partnership for the Subaru Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race.
In celebration of the deal, the race will now also introduce a new Subaru Duathlon racecourse.
“Subaru Canada is excited to become the lead sponsor of the Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race event,” states regional sales director Geoff Craig. “Working together with the regional dealer, Owen Sound Subaru, we are confident this great and growing event will benefit from Subaru’s years of experience with Ironman Triathlons and various Adventure Racing events. This partnership will allow Subaru to demonstrate the benefits of our full line up of durable vehicles designed to support active individuals across various lifestyle activities.”
“Subaru continues to support the many residents of Grey-Bruce,” continues Craig, “as well as demonstrates a commitment to attracting active tourists to this amazing part of Ontario”
The new Subaru Duathlon course will be a 25km option for those wishing to forego the 5 kilometers of running. The course will feature a return paddling leg on the traditional Suntrail Course to Wiarton and then a quick dash to the finishing arch. Registration for the Subaru Duathlon is now open at www.brucepeninsulamultisportrace.ca. If there is high wind, the paddling stages will be re-routed to the run-bike-run route used at last years race. Because all the 25km course options start & finish at the same location, this year’s event will pit expert paddlers against the fastest runners.
“This new option is a paddle-bike-paddle that will appeal to our loyal base of racers who can paddle expertly and if given the choice would rather do little else,” says executive director Leigh Grigg. “It is also an appealing option for racers who’ve been wanting to challenge themselves to the 25km Suntrail Course but cannot or don’t wish to run.
“It will be an exciting showdown to see which racecourse has the first racer across the finish line first this year.”
“This partnership is the perfect fit for our race,” continues Grigg. “More than one of our race committee members were already advocating for Subaru so our team will be talking genuinely about their cars. Our organization is quite selective about which companies we approach about a partnership, so Subaru delivering a great package of support for the race is very exciting.”
Raceday is Saturday, August 13th, 2016 and will also showcase local food & live music with a festival in Bluewater Park in Wiarton. There will again be a Pasta Dinner with locally sourced ingredients at the Wiarton Arena the night before, put on by the Wiarton Farmers Market. Tickets for the popular dinner are available at the door.
PASA was founded in 2011 and also organizes the Groundhog Jog and the Tobermory Trail Race Weekend. The non-profit states its mission as “supporting outdoor sport on the Bruce.”
Race registration is open now until August 9th, 2016 at www.brucepeninsulamultisportrace.ca & early bird pricing ends May 15th, 2016. Registration for all races will be again be capped at numbers that will ensure the event is low-impact to its surrounding environment.
